Thesis project exploring the qualities and expressions of saudade typographically. Saudade, a Portuguese word describing  a feeling of wistful longing, nostalgia, or melancholy, occurs in musical genres such as Fado, Morna, and Bossa Nova. Lyrics from each of these yielded distinct meanings and provided a rich historical and social context for experimentation.
